Launch of the ICAT Second Policy Paper: Preventing Trafficking in Persons by Addressing Demand

On 9 October 2014, the ICAT published its second policy paper entitled Preventing Trafficking in Persons by Addressing Demand, in the margins of the seventh session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organized Crime.

World Day against Trafficking in Persons

On the occasion of the first World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the ICAT Working group produced a joint statement, to mark its member organizations’ renewed commitment to inter-agency cooperation and coordination to support Member States in the fight against trafficking in persons.

On 16 October 2012, the ICAT launched its first policy paper on The International Legal Frameworks concerning Trafficking in Persons at a side event on the margins of the Fifth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organized Crime and its Protocols.

Launch of the ICAT Overview Paper: The Next Decade

In May 2012, an interactive dialogue and thematic discussion was held at the UN in New York. It was hosted by ICAT and co-sponsored by the Mission of Sweden, together with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).

In July 2011, in an effort to reinvigorate the structure, interested ICAT members, including ILO, Interpol, IOM, OHCHR, UNHCR, UNICEF, UN Women, UNAIDS and UNODC met in Geneva on the margins of the 17th session of the Human Rights Council.

Launch of ICAT's Analytical Review

In December 2010, ICAT launched a first joint publication detailing recommendations for coordinated future action to combat trafficking in persons.

On 17 October 2016, the Inter-agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT), together with the Government of Belarus, the Group of Friends United Against Human Trafficking and the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS), hosted a side event to the 8th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.

ICAT Meeting

ICAT began in 2006, when the Government of Japan hosted a meeting of international organizations working to counter trafficking in persons, pursuant to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Resolution 2006/27.
