ICAT Briefing to Vienna-based Permanent Missions

On 13 December 2016, the Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT) hosted a briefing for Member States to inform them of ICAT’s key outputs for 2016, which included discussion documents, tools and advocacy material. Held at UNODC Headquarters in Vienna, the briefing also marked the conclusion of the 2016 Chairmanship by UNODC. Following the briefing, Member States were given an opportunity to ask questions about the work of ICAT.

World Day against Trafficking in Persons

In its third year, the World Day provides an opportunity to reflect on our shared responsibility and show solidarity with those victimized. Human trafficking is a parasitic crime that feeds on vulnerability, thrives in times of uncertainty, and profits from inaction. With greater understanding and by working together, we can give trafficking victims, as well as the many children, women and men on the move vulnerable to human trafficking, a much-needed voice and a helping hand.

Expert Group Meetings: Evaluation of Anti-Trafficking Responses

Two expert consultations were hosted in Vienna on 9-10 December 2015 and 4-5 July 2016, to conduct discussions towards jointly elaborating a discussion paper on the issue of evaluating anti-trafficking responses; and a way forward, or a “road map”, towards improving the evaluation of anti-trafficking interventions, respectively.
