ICAT organizes information sharing on UN Fund for Victims of Human Trafficking

On 13 October 2022, the Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT) organized an information sharing session with organizations in Eastern Africa on the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children (UNVTF), administered by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
During the information session, Jeevan Kanakkassery, UNODC, presented the UN Trust Fund and the opportunities that it presents for organizations supporting victims and survivors of trafficking.
The UN Trust Fund has supported six funding cycles since its inception in 2010. In total, the Trust Fund has supported over 150 NGO projects in more than 60 countries, with disbursed funds exceeding US$6 million since inception.
The information session was a follow-up to the regional consultation with the organizations in Eastern Africa in February 2022. and part of ICAT’s efforts to reach out to different regions of the world to collect the views from the organizations working in the field that inform the development of joint policy outputs on trafficking in persons.
